#34 Football and Cookies with Marissa and Jeff Allen

Marissa and Jeff Allen are the husband-wife duo behind The Cookie Society. The two met at the University of Illinois, where they were soccer (Marissa) and football (Jeff) student-athletes. After college, Jeff pursued an NFL career and Marissa began to publicly explore her love for cooking via her blog/Instagram (@firstandfull).

The couple’s most recent venture, The Cookie Society, was born from Marissa’s love for baking in general and a trip she and Jeff took to NYC. They discovered a famous bakery with amazing cookies, and Marissa turned her focus to making her version of the “Ultimate Cookie.” The Cookie Society officially opened for business in 2018, but Marissa and Jeff opened their first brick and mortar location in Texas in 2020.

They joined us on The Bloom Pod to share their experiences opening their store during the pandemic, being first-time business owners, and how their student-athlete backgrounds have helped them along the way.
